Virtual Continuing Medical Education

The Willow Family Medicine Lactation & Infant Feeding team hosts a recurring virtual continuing medical education event every 3 months via Google Meetings.

This event is open to;

  • Regulated healthcare providers working in or hoping to work in lactation & infant feeding and/or

  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultants

We aim to keep each session to no more than 75 minutes. We discuss a new topic or interesting case, typically relevant to the group’s interests, integrating evidence-based resources and clinical experience.

The session aims to be friendly and low-pressure (you don’t need your camera on) and hopes to increase knowledge and community among providers in Edmonton and Northern Alberta. However, people from all geographic regions are welcome!

If you are interested in attending, please email Dr. MacGregor so you may be added to the recurring invitation. Please indicate your name, profession, and location so we can get to know you better.

We look forward to learning with you!

Professional Shadowing Opportunities

We welcome healthcare professionals interested in observing our clinical practice to better understand our comprehensive approach to care, which includes patient intakes, follow-up appointments, and procedures such as frenectomies.

We limit the number of observers at any given time to maintain a supportive environment for both patients and our other learners (medical students and residents). As such, shadowing opportunities are typically scheduled approximately six weeks in advance.

These learning opportunities occur on Tuesdays from approximately 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., as this day offers the broadest exposure to our full range of services. If you want to arrange a shadowing visit, please contact Dr. MacGregor to schedule. Please note that these opportunities are limited to registered health care professionals only, and these experiences do not constitute professional training. For individuals interested in furthering their understanding of tongue tie and treatment approaches, please consider completing this course by Dr. Ghaheri to help augment your time with our program.
